One good conversation can be enough — and that's okay.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Hi Newsletter Subscribers,

Quick permission slip this week:

Some podcast collaborations are meant to be one-offs.
Not because they were bad.
Not because anyone failed.
Just because… that's what they are.

One good conversation.
A clean start and finish.
Everyone moves on.

That's normal. And honestly? It's healthy.

Where people get stuck is when they assume every good episode should turn into:
🤝 a relationship
🔁 a second appearance
📈 “momentum”
✨ some big ongoing thing

Sometimes the collaboration already did its job.

🎧 The real skill isn't “keeping it going”

The real skill is knowing:

Which conversations are complete…

…and can be left with a smile.

And which ones are worth a next step

because there's real alignment, overlap, or energy that makes sense to continue.

So instead of forcing “staying in touch,” here's a simpler approach:

✅ The “Should we continue this?” check (host + guest)

After an episode goes live (or even right after recording), ask yourself:

🟢 Energy: Did this feel easy, natural, and genuinely enjoyable?
🟢 Audience fit: Would your audience want more of this voice/topic?
🟢 Overlap: Is there real mutual relevance (not just “we liked each other”)?
🟢 Specific next: Can you name a specific next step that isn't forced?

If you get mostly yeses, great — consider continuing.

If not, also great — the collab can simply be complete.

🌱 If you DO want to keep it going (without making it weird)

Here are a few small next steps that don't assume anything big.

The “one line” message
Send one specific line you genuinely liked (moment, insight, quote).
Specific > enthusiastic.

The “I shared it” message
Tell them you shared the episode and why. (No expectations.)

The “one intro” bridge
If someone comes to mind, introduce them. One intro > vague future promises.

The “open door” line
A simple: “If you ever want to do a follow-up on X, I'd be up for it.”
No scheduling. No push. Just a door left open.

🎯 The point

You're not trying to squeeze more out of every collaboration.

You're building a body of conversations over time —
and occasionally, a few of those conversations naturally turn into something ongoing.

The one-offs are not a problem.
They're the baseline.

✅ This week's tiny action

Pick one recent collaboration and ask:

Was that a good one-off…
or is there a natural next step worth taking?

Either answer is a win.

Happy Collaborating,
