Joy Eberhardt De Master

"One of my favorite quotes is by Albert Camus: “Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Just walk beside me.” This reflects my approach—walking alongside families on their journey."
About Me:
Looking to be a guest on podcasts that cover neurodiversity in children.
I’m Dr. Joy, The PDA Doc. I'm an AuDHDer, a Latine person, and a parent of PDAers who’s worked for highly regarded healthcare organizations. Now I’m on a mission to empower families using a root-cause, parent-led, PDA-affirming approach to helping neurodivergent children thrive. I'd love to spread awareness about the benefits of this approach via your podcast—especially because the typical methods don’t work for neurodivergent kids. I've been featured in PDA North America, American Academy of Pediatrics.

Your Qualifications:
I’m a board-certified pediatrician (FAAP) with a passion for caring for kids and families since 2009.
After a few years in primary care, I found my calling in developmental and behavioral pediatrics. With the guidance of a wonderful mentor, I made the switch and haven’t looked back. My experience in a pediatric eating disorder program taught me a lot about neurodiversity and supporting kids with mood and behavioral differences.
I’m also fluent in Spanish and proud to be bicultural, having grown up between the US and Mexico. At Orchid Pediatrics, which I opened in 2021, we’re all about creating a warm, welcoming space where families feel supported and empowered. We believe healthcare should be accessible to everyone and that true partnership with families is the key to great care.
