Carolyne Whelan
About Me:
I'm a writing and editing coach for adventurous spirits with a story to tell. A former magazine editor-in-chief at popular cycling magazines and current editorial director at a major outdoor travel industry, as well as widely published essayist, poet, and journalist, my goal is to break down the barriers between editor and writer, give newer writers the tools they need to learn to edit their own work and pitch their ideas to publishers, and make the world of writing fun, creative, and approachable. I've taught at various age and skill levels over the years, coaching over 500 writers to tell their stories, be brave, and listen to their inner voices. In addition to coaching outdoor and "adventure" writers with a special focus on bicycle travel, I lead retreats centered on writing and movement. As an ADHDer with dysgraphia and other learning disabilities, I have learned ways to coach neurodivergent writers in a way that is encouraging, honest, and goal oriented and that doesn't trigger RSD.
