In this episode, on ‘Embracing Data’, your host Associate Professor Marian Vidal Fernandez spoke with Professor Sascha O. Becker, at the University of Warwick and Monash University.
Together they discuss the importance of embracing historical data, For example, the impact of local missionaries in Colonial Korea on literacy rates and other data and insights that came out of this research paper: ‘Conquering Korea for Jesus: Protestant missionaries, local churches, and literacy in Colonial Korea’.
Professor Becker also shares insights into the type of data used and the instrumental variable method used in this research paper. As well as how he embraces data in his everyday life.
