Keisha Lance Bottoms comes home to Atlanta’s West Side for a conversation with Killer Mike, Cutmaster Swiff, and Bear at Bankhead Seafood.
The former Atlanta mayor and Democratic nominee for Governor of Georgia sits down in the neighborhood that helped raise her to talk about why she wants to lead the state, what she learned as mayor, and why she believes Georgia voters should feel a real difference based on who holds office.
Nothing is off the table. Bottoms discusses Medicaid expansion and hospital closures, affordable housing and protecting legacy residents, responsible gun ownership, education, childcare, small businesses, marijuana laws, and the rising cost of living. She also responds to attacks from her opponent and explains why she believes misinformation and political distractions can keep people from focusing on the issues affecting their everyday lives.
Killer Mike gets personal about his own political apathy, why he believes sitting on the sidelines is a mistake, and what brought him back into the fight. Bottoms also opens up about the pressure of running for governor, the role faith plays in her life, and the lesson she learned from her time as mayor: being strong is not always the same thing as being powerful.
From picking up fish at Bankhead Seafood as a kid to running for the highest office in Georgia, this is a conversation about Atlanta, leadership, working class communities, political power, and what Keisha Lance Bottoms means when she says simply: “I want better.”
