What really happens when emotion—not logic—drives our relationships?
In this episode of Klickline, host Mina Kim sits down with Elana Katz, internationally recognized therapist, EFT trainer, and senior faculty member at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. Elana teaches Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) around the world, helping couples, mediators, and divorce coaches understand the emotional wiring that shapes every conflict, breakup, and reconciliation.
Together, Mina and Elana unpack what EFT actually is, why it works, and how early attachment patterns determine how we love, fight, and heal. They discuss what happens in the brain during emotional trauma, how to rebuild trust after infidelity, and why vulnerability—not perfection—is what restores connection.
They also explore:
The two main attachment styles and how they clash under stress
How to reconnect with a partner who’s shut down
The emotional science behind infidelity and repair
Why decision-making freezes during divorce—and how to “get out of the water”
How therapists guide couples toward empathy, accountability, and real change
A must-listen for anyone curious about how Emotionally Focused Therapy transforms relationships—from chaos to clarity, and disconnection to trust.
