Reason & Reverence

Reason & Reverence
Podcast Description
Does the death of God mean the death of morality? Can we build meaningful lives from our shattered altars, or must we return to the gods of our fathers or perish? These and related questions are the inspiration for Reason & Reverence. Whether you’re an atheist, agnostic, or religious thinker, this is a space for deep, respectful conversations about philosophy, ethics, and purpose. At least once a month, I dive into these topics through solo podcasts and/or interviews with thinkers from both atheist and religious perspectives.

In this interview, I idiscuss the question, ”Can Psychology Replace Religion?” with Mark Derian, a therapist based in Los Angeles. Mark, a one-time PhD candidate at Columbia, was kicked out of the program for radical new ideas that challenged the professional psychology establishment, and now practices a method of therapy based on his own unified theory of psychology.
