What if corporate success wasn’t about climbing higher… but about living freer?
In this episode of The WakeUp Protocol, co-hosts Nadja Haldimann and Colin Shanteau sit down with Justin Maguire III, Design Leader at Atlassian, a leader, designer, artist, elite athlete, and sailor who has spent decades dancing between the worlds of high-performance, soulful creativity, and embodied freedom.
Justin’s journey has taken him across many landscapes, from long-distance Iron Man triathlons and executive boardrooms to months at sea on a sailboat in Alaska and Mexico, where he often lives and works off-grid.
But underneath the titles and achievements lies a deeper pursuit: one of presence, aliveness, and inner alignment.
Together, they explore Justin’s path of radical self-inquiry, one that challenges cultural norms around success, burnout, and doing “enough,” and instead invites us to build a life that feels deeply true.
Justin shares insights on:
- Redefining success through creativity, spaciousness, and joy
- How embodiment fuels intuition, clarity, and innovation
- Using art, movement, and nature as medicine for burnout and disconnection
- The tension between ambition and wholeness in leadership
- Designing a life that prioritizes freedom and presence
- Learning to trust the seasons of creativity and contraction
This is a rich, honest conversation about what it really means to live a soulful, creative life, even in the heart of the fast-moving tech industry and high expectations.
Justin reminds us that there is no “right” way to be human… only your way.
