Podcast Description

The community scholars program at UT - HI (The Humanities Institute) collaborates with local nonprofit organizations by connecting them with university faculty and campus resources to support and strengthen their missions. Through HI, they offer an annual $2,500 grant to help organizations carry out impactful, community-based projects. Each grant cycle features a unique theme, providing an opportunity for organizations to align their work with timely social and cultural issues. This year with funding from UT, ABC was able to launch a student-run newsletter in the Del Valle district. This initiative empowered students to become the voice of their community—an important and long-standing goal for ABC. The organization was grateful for the support, which allowed them to invest in their students and bring this vision to life.
