I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with the incredible mother-daughter duo behind Satya Blends, Rama and Anita, and I walked away smiling and completely inspired!
Their company is named after their mother and grandmother, Sati, and the word “satya,” which means truth in Hindi. That spirit of truth runs through everything they do. Their spice blends are rooted in family recipes, cultural tradition, and incredibly high standards for quality. They source thoughtfully, support farmers in India, and create blends they would proudly cook for their own families.
And the momentum is real. Satya Blends was recently picked up by 500 stores of Sprouts Farmers Market, a HUGE milestone that has transformed their business (as well as some other big retailers to be announced soon)! They’ve also introduced the cutest and most convenient spice sachets, small packets of their blends that make it easy to cook vibrant, flavorful meals at home. I’ve tried them and they’re absolutely DELICIOUS and make cooking super easy!
What stood out most during our conversation was their partnership. They truly understand each other’s strengths and balance each other beautifully. There’s a deep respect between them, and that kind of trust makes for a powerful team. This was what touched me the most.
Their workspace is refreshingly scrappy too. A small, minimal space in northern New Jersey where big ideas and bold dreams are turning into a fast-growing national brand.
Both women were accomplished long before launching Satya. Rama is a respected chef who has spent years cooking professionally and serving local families through her scrumptious food. Anita also built her own successful career in the apparel business before joining forces with her daughter. Together, they’ve created something truly special that honors heritage while making Indian flavors approachable for modern kitchens.
Food carries memory, culture, and connection. Sitting with them reminded me just how powerful those traditions can be. Their goal is to grow Satya big, really big. And after meeting them, I have no doubt they will.
Please listen to the full conversation on Apple and Spotify. These are just a few of the great clips from my conversation with these rockstar women! 🤩🤩
