Sacred Tea & Nourished Souls is a podcast steeped in many forms of healing — from creativity and spirituality to ancestral wisdom, storytelling, and soulful conversation. Together, we explore what it means to connect more deeply with ourselves, with each other, and with whatever the divine looks like to you.
In this episode, we explore the layers of intergenerational trauma—the emotional wounds and patterns silently passed from one generation to the next. Through the lens of depth psychology, we look at how unconscious material, family narratives, and ancestral experiences continue to shape the way we show up in everyday life. From relationship dynamics and self-worth struggles to the ways we cope with stress, these inherited imprints often linger beneath the surface. We also discuss pathways toward healing: cultivating awareness, engaging therapeutic practices, and learning how to rewrite the stories we’ve been carrying. If you’re curious about how the past lives on within us—and how to break free from cycles of pain—this conversation offers both insight and practical tools for transformation.
About our guest:
Keren Goldenberg, LMFT, is a psychotherapist, supervisor, and PhD student based in Los Angeles. As the founder of Sunray Psychotherapy, Keren works at the intersection of depth psychology, trauma, and cultural identity. Their clinical focus includes complex trauma, intergenerational trauma, and cultural complexes—those inherited cultural wounds and narratives that shape how individuals and communities see themselves across generations.
With training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and EMDR, Keren helps clients explore how personal struggles often reflect larger family and cultural patterns. Drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience as a first-generation immigrant, Keren’s work supports people in loosening the grip of inherited trauma and reclaiming their sense of self.
At Sunray Psychotherapy, the mission is to create space for clients to not only heal the burdens of the past but also imagine new futures where resilience, creativity, and connection take root.
