People. Purpose. Education.
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States, ONOR is thrilled to share a conversation that reflects the enduring values of service, leadership, and commitment to community.
In this inspiring episode, we welcome Major General Sheryl Gordon, retired senior U.S. Army National Guard officer and former Adjutant General of the Alabama National Guard, the highest-ranking military leader in the state.
General Gordon led the Alabama National Guard, overseeing more than 12,000 Soldiers and Airmen and serving as the principal military advisor to the Governor of Alabama. Her leadership guided critical efforts in readiness, modernization, and coordinated response across both federal and state missions.
Her tenure reflects leadership at scale strengthening readiness, expanding recruitment and retention, and advancing collaboration across all levels of service while encouraging a culture of professionalism and excellence throughout the ranks.
Beyond her operational command, Major General Gordon’s legacy is deeply rooted in people. She has dedicated her career to mentoring young officers and enlisted personnel, supporting leadership development programs, encouraging educational advancement, and helping service members successfully transition between military and civilian life.
Her voice reminds us that leadership is not only measured in rank or responsibility, but in the generations, we prepare to lead after us.
