This week we hear from Emily Glover, a humble, resilient and determined woman whose life changed permanently and unexpectedly after the birth of her son. Returning home with her newborn, she dismissed her exhaustion as typical for a first time mum. When she finally presented to hospital, she never expected that she would be there for months and leave with a new heart.
In this episode, Emily takes us along the journey of her birth, and the events that followed that led her to have a heart transplant at only 25 years old. She shares how she coped with the immense mental challenges of potential death, being away from her son, and alone due to Covid visiting restrictions. She breaks stigmas surrounding transplant as a “fix”, and opens up about survivors guilt and navigating motherhood.
This is a very unique story that will shift your perspective and leave you in complete admiration of Emily’s tenacity and outlook on life.
