In this episode of Franciscan Fridays, Brother Pius and Father Luke reflect on the powerful devotion that Saint Padre Pio and so many other saints had for Our Lady. Padre Pio called the Rosary his “weapon” and expressed a deep desire for sinners throughout the world to love the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The conversation explores why Marian devotion is deeply rooted in Catholic Scripture, Tradition, the lives of the saints, and God’s plan of salvation. Brother Pius and Father Luke discuss Mary as our spiritual mother, the words of Jesus from the Cross, the role of the Blessed Virgin in leading us closer to Christ, and the beautiful tenderness of Mary’s maternal care.
They also reflect on the witness of Fulton Sheen, Saint John Paul II, the children of Fatima, and the saints who continually encouraged Christians to love and honor Our Lady.
Ultimately, Marian devotion is not a replacement for our love of God. Rather, Mary points us toward Jesus and helps us love and follow Him more deeply.
