Your host, Ruihao Li, is the Engagement and Outreach Director of For Elenvia: Publications and Productions, a 501c3 non-profit arts organization based in the Bay Area of California. With a focus on theatre and literature, we use the arts to unite people under a common philosophy of limitless respect, empathy, and curiosity. We believe in the possibility of a better world - the idea of which we have given the name Elenvia - and we work towards its creation through artistic education and active community organizing. Each podcast episode, we invite an artist to reflect on their artistic offerings to the world in a mutually enriching conversation.

In this episode, Ruihao speaks with Elizander Espenschied!
Elizander Espenschied is a poet from Cleveland, Ohio who studied English & American Literature at NYU. While at NYU, he was a member of the NYU sketch comedy group Friends with Dads, and hosted “Best of the Midwest” and “Late Afternoon Elixir” for WNYU 89.1. Currently, it hosts “Laughing Lyre,” a weekly hour of humorous music, for KRUI 89.7. He carries his poems in his backpack despite having some published by The Weasel, The Greene Street Review, and The Minetta Review. It is currently studying poetry at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, but also joined a punk band, shoots 35mm film, and enjoys creating lists in threes.
