In this Season 3 episode of Teach Me Something, hosts DJ Prostyle and Penny Dellas sit down with Professor Lisa Karakas, a beloved Berkeley College faculty member who has spent more than 30 years teaching English and Media Communications.
With a passion for helping students find their voice, Lisa has dedicated her career to strengthening the skills that shape communication: writing, reading, speaking, research, and now AI literacy. Her work bridges traditional English studies with the evolving world of media and digital storytelling.
From classroom lessons to career preparation, Lisa shares how language, curiosity, and creativity remain at the heart of every successful communicator. She also reflects on her own journey—from studying English and TESOL to inspiring generations of students at Berkeley College.
Outside the classroom, Lisa is a nature photographer, violinist, roller-coaster enthusiast, and science fiction lover, bringing the same sense of curiosity and adventure to her teaching that she brings to life.
🎧 This episode explores how the power of words can shape careers, build confidence, and open doors across every industry.
