In this episode of Real Talk with Kandi Thompson & Garrett Gray, we sit down with local IHSS workers and a program organizer to bring awareness to the vital role caregivers play in our community—and the challenges they face when it comes to fair compensation.
IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services) workers help seniors and individuals with disabilities remain safely in their homes while providing essential daily care. Despite the impact they have on families across Amador County and beyond, many caregivers are still advocating for wages that reflect the importance of their work.
With an Amador County Board of Supervisors meeting on March 10th, this conversation comes at a critical time as community members and caregivers raise their voices about the future of this program.
In this episode we discuss:
• The real work IHSS caregivers do every day
• Why compensation has been a challenge
• Possible wage changes on the horizon
• How people can become IHSS providers
If you’ve ever considered work that truly makes a difference in people’s lives, this conversation might open the door to an opportunity you didn’t know existed.
