Naija Eco Vibes is a storytelling and advocacy platform by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation designed to spotlight pressing environmental and climate issues in Nigeria.
Who is telling Nigeria’s climate story and is the story reaching the people who need to hear it?
Climate change is already affecting everyday life in Nigeria, from flooding and extreme heat to disrupted farming, rising food prices and threatened livelihoods. Yet environmental stories often struggle to command the attention given to politics, crime, entertainment and sports.
In this episode of the Naija Eco Vibes podcast, we go Beyond the Headlines with Ayoola Kassim, environment correspondent and anchor/producer of Earthfile at Channels Television, and Iposu Oluwakayode, Programmes Director and On-Air Personality at Lagos Talks.
We unpack the role of the media in climate communication, why complex climate language can alienate audiences, whether fear-based reporting drives action, the power of solution-focused storytelling, and how journalists can help turn climate awareness into public action.
We also explore what climate communication means for young Nigerians navigating unemployment, inflation and everyday survival and the opportunities for the next generation of environmental journalists and communicators.
Listen, share your thoughts, and join the conversation.
