In this episode of The Body Talks I’m joined by Ami Yeasmin – a joy-led creator, mother and cancer survivor whose body wisdom speaks before the mind does.
We met at the sold-out show by Sophie Tea at the London Palladium where we both strutted painted and proud of our bodies. That shared moment of visibility, courage and celebration sits at the heart of this conversation.
We begin with an embodied practice and as always something unexpected emerges. Ami’s body brings forward her hands: a part she did not prepare to speak about yet one that reveals a whole life story of illness resilience creativity and care. It’s a powerful reminder that the body holds truth long before we intellectualise it.
We talk about joy not as positivity but as something that can live alongside grief. About motherhood and raising children with freedom rather than ownership. About surviving cancer and how Ami brought joy and connection to fellow patients even in hospital. About dancing as medicine and the courage to stay open to life.
This episode is for anyone curious about listening to their body more deeply and for anyone who needs permission to hold joy and pain at the same time.
