The American Freedom Alliance welcomed renowned author, filmmaker, and podcast host Dinesh D’Souza to Los Angeles for a powerful evening titled “Western Civilization vs. The United States of Islam.”
In his signature style—witty, incisive, and unflinching—D’Souza took the stage and delivered a wide-ranging talk that moved from personal storytelling to urgent cultural diagnosis.
He began with the improbable origins of his filmmaking career, recounting how a chance encounter with Joe Ricketts led to his groundbreaking documentary 2016: Obama’s America and launched a decade-plus run of influential films, including the election-integrity blockbuster 2000 Mules.
He then shared his transformative first visit to Israel with his wife Debbie, describing how biblical archaeology shattered the “higher criticism” worldview he absorbed as an English major at Dartmouth and inspired his forthcoming PragerU documentary The Stones Cry Out.
Turning to the present, D’Souza offered a bracing assessment of California’s one-party political reality and the deeper predicament facing conservatives in hostile cultural territory. Drawing on William F. Buckley’s 1960s Dartmouth lecture, he urged audiences to embrace a fighting spirit of disruption and “chaos” against entrenched regimes—an approach that helped launch the careers of Laura Ingraham, Harmeet Dhillon, and others.
The heart of the evening, however, was D’Souza’s sobering exploration of Islam’s challenge to the West.
He previewed his new feature film United States of Islam (produced in partnership with the American Freedom Alliance), arguing that the real long-term threat is not only violent jihad but a sophisticated, patient infiltration that weaponizes America’s own principles of religious liberty, free enterprise, and private education.
Mosques, he explained, have historically functioned as political, educational, and sometimes military centers; today, the same model is being deployed inside red states and blue states alike—often with the unwitting assistance of Western legal and constitutional protections.
Blending historical sweep, sharp political analysis, and a clear-eyed look at the transactional worldview of President Trump versus the theological certainties of Shia Islam, D’Souza delivered a must-hear defense of Western Civilization in an age of civilizational collision.
The event closed with a special preview of his biblical-archaeology documentary.
Recorded live in Los Angeles June 4th 2026
