In this very first episode of North East Business Heroes, we sit down with Naomi Longfield – founder, chocolatier, and pastry chef behind Studio 28 Patisserie, an artisan chocolate and pastry studio nestled in the heart of Newcastle’s Hoults Yard.
Trained alongside Michelin-star pastry chefs and having taken a bold step away from a maths degree at York University, Naomi poured her passion into building a patisserie unlike any other.
In this episode, Naomi shares:
- Her journey from a mathematician to a chocolatier
- What it really took – emotionally and financially – to open Studio 28
- The highs, lows, and weirdest days behind the scenes
- Work/life balance when your life is your work
- What it’s like being a woman in business
- Her thoughts on scaling a brand that’s both deeply personal and locally beloved
Whether you're dreaming of launching your own business, obsessed with desserts, or just here for an inspiring story – this one’s for you.
🍰 Warning: Listener discretion is advised – at some point, we go into mouth-watering detail about the flavours of Naomi’s creations. If you start drooling, we take no responsibility.
