In this episode, I talk with Marilyn Raichle about her deeply personal journey with Alzheimer’s and how it reshaped her understanding of dementia. What began as reluctance turned into a powerful transformation, revealing creativity, connection, and even joy in unexpected ways. We explore how shifting from loss to presence can change everything for both the person living with dementia and their care partner.

Marilyn Raichle is the founder of The Art of Alzheimer’s and the executive director of Maude’s Awards for Innovation in Alzheimer’s Care. With a background in the performing arts and a master’s degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School, her work was inspired by her mother’s unexpected creative awakening during dementia. She is also the author of Don’t Walk Away: A Care Partner’s Journey, where she shares insights that challenge traditional views of Alzheimer’s and highlight the enduring humanity and potential for connection in those living with the condition.
