Have you ever felt like God was holding you captive in your pain? Or woke up in the morning wishing you hadn’t?
I sit down with Bec, who lives with a severe genetic syndrome that causes tumors to grow on her nerves, eroding the bones in her skull and spine. She describes her daily pain as a “blowtorch” to the jaw and admits there was a time she accused God of having “Munchausen by proxy”, believing He created her sickness just to force her to depend on Him.
But her story didn’t end in bitterness.
Bec shares how discovering Apologetics (the evidence for the truth of Christianity) became the anchor that feelings alone could not provide. We discuss how logic, history, and a robust theology of the Resurrection can sustain us when our bodies are failing.
Have you ever wondered if God “dropped a stitch” when He made you? Let’s understand Romans 8:28 and the true purpose of pain.
In this episode, we discuss:
Living with a “blowtorch” of pain: Tumors, eroding bones, and permanent migraines.
The “Munchausen by Proxy” accusation: Dealing with anger toward God.
Why “Blind Faith” isn’t enough when you are suffering deeply.
How apologetics protects us from false teaching and despair.
Redefining “Good”: Why God’s plan in Romans 8:28 isn’t always physical healing.

Bec mentions that “loving God with your mind” (studying evidence) helped her heart. Has learning theology ever helped you through an emotional struggle?
About True Comfort: It is our desire to live out 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, assuring us that we have a God who comforts us in all our afflictions so that we may share that comfort with others. We explore the reasons for the Biblical worldview while holding space for heartbreak and healing.
