Welcome to Terra.talk, the official podcast of international climate school Terra.do. We're back for Season Two, and Jae kicks off the festivities with an old Terra friend, Greg Findley.
Greg is a long-time environmentalist and climate justice activist and educator, who sees a stable climate as the bedrock for a livable future for humans and all other species. Until recently, he was Director of Climate Change: Learning for Action at Terra.do, where he helped educate and activate thousands of mid-career professionals from all over the world to work on climate.
He has been an international adventure guide and outdoor educator, an entrepreneur and international travel company CEO, as well as a climate change educator, activist, and writer. For more than a decade, he led Class V wilderness rafting expeditions and treks in the western US, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, Turkey, and the Philippines. He’s also founded and served as CEO of several businesses, including Detour, an international adventure travel company designed to ensure that tourism benefits local people, cultures, and ecosystems.
He has served on the boards of multiple climate organizations, mostly working on utility and energy policy at the state and city levels, and he is currently on 2 Boards in Wyoming. In 2019, he helped found and then mentored young activists in a local chapter of the Sunrise Movement in Bozeman, Montana, where they helped push the City of Bozeman to pass strong climate goals. He has an MBA in finance and entrepreneurship and a BA in English, Creative Writing.
Greg lives in Lander, Wyoming, USA, with his wife, two teenage sons, next to the majestic Wind River Mountains and the Wind River Indian Reservation (the seventh largest Indian reservation in the US, home to the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes), and not far from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. He and the family can often be found mountain biking, skiing, rafting, and camping in the spectacular mountains near their home.
