En allemaal moesten zij op enig moment in hun leven hun land ontvluchten, of werd het onmogelijk ernaar terug te keren. In deze podcast vertellen ze over hun vaak gevaarlijke reis of onmogelijke thuiskomst. Maar ook over de strijd die ze hier in Nederland moesten voeren. En soms nog steeds voeren. Om te mogen blijven. Op een zonnige februarimiddag gaat Barbara Postma op bezoek bij Hibaq Abdi Ali. Als ze vanuit de lift de galerij op loopt staat de deur van Hibaqs appartement al op een kier en zit Hibaq aan tafel te wachten, startklaar om te vertellen over haar leven. Over haar kindertijd in Somalië, een vlucht naar Kenia en haar dappere strijd voor zelfstandigheid hier in Nederland. Hoewel haar Nederlands prima is heeft ze liever niet dat haar eigen stem te horen is. Daarom vertellen wij haar indrukwekkende verhaal.
