Something Blue: Love Letters To The Ocean
Podcast Description
Where do you imagine when I ask you to think of something blue? Maybe it's an ocean, a river or a lake, maybe it's the feeling you get when you take a sip of water, or the calmness in your mind as you sit at the water's edge. Water is there for every chapter of our lives, and in this podcast, we'll be discovering the untold stories of our love affair with water. I'll be inviting guests to share their something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue, as we dive into the realm of all things water and take a moment to appreciate the truly wonderful nature of blue spaces. In today’s episode, I’m chatting with Viola Madau, a wonderfully creative human and Visual Artist with a childlike fascination for Scottish seas. For this episode, I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Viola in person. Venturing to a quiet outdoor spot not far from Arran’s hidden nature library, the misty skies and gentle rain were the perfect backdrop to this cosy conversation. Viola brings so much joy in the way she talks about the ocean. With a little bit of curiosity and childlike awe for the natural world, Viola encourages each of us to tap into our hidden creativity.
Something Old: Playing as a child with her uncles in the waters of Sardinia at 3 or 4 years old. “Touching the sky and coming back, hugged by the water”
Something New: Childlike wonder and a joyful attitude towards nature, discovering our inner child through art
Something Borrowed: The wise words of Dr Texa Sim at CAOLAS, ‘Fishermen want fish, conservationists want healthy seas…it’s the same thing. We should all work together to protect them’
Something Blue: Cala Fighera, Cagliari, Sardinia

If you enjoyed the episode and are able to share with a friend or leave a review, I’d be super grateful.
The hope with this podcast is to bring a tiny dose of blue wherever in the world you’re listening…to remind ourselves as a global community of ocean lovers that there is hope for the future of our waterways.
Sending you all the ocean love,
Lily xx
