Athletes who strive to follow Christ through their sport.
What happens when the odds say one thing, but God has another plan?
In this episode of the Athlete Disciples Podcast, Christian sits down with Emmanuel Adebi, a former Cornell and Vanderbilt football player preparing for his next chapter in football.
Emmanuel shares his powerful testimony of being born after a traumatic delivery that left him with permanent limitations in his right arm. His parents were told he may struggle physically and academically—but they chose to trust God. Years later, Emmanuel earned an engineering degree from Cornell, competed in Division I football, played in the SEC at Vanderbilt, and continued pursuing football at the highest level.
Christian and Emmanuel also dive into Psalm 127:1–2 — “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” They discuss surrendering control, working hard without depending on your own strength, persevering through adversity, competing for an Audience of One, and why Christian athletes need strong community around them.
This conversation is a reminder to do the work God has placed in front of you while trusting Him with the outcome.
