Simon Nielsen is one of the most renowned players in card games. Right now, his laurels mainly reside in Magic: The Gathering, but that hasn't stopped him from making a meaningful mark on Flesh and Blood. Simon is one of the founding members (and first captain) of what is now known as Team Super Armory. All members of the super team have commended Simon for his leadership during their first season together, which culminated in Pablo Pintor winning Pro Tour London. In this episode, Bryce attempts to tease out the finer points of TCG team creation from Simon along with the moments in which punctuality has been his biggest enemy.Simon Nielsen Links: X: https://x.com/MrChecklistcardBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/simonnielsenmtg.bsky.socialYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@SimonNielsenMTG00:00 Cold Open00:29 Intro02:34 Why Card Games?04:16 Distractions06:09 Stress of Being a Pro09:32 Simon Loves to Teach11:14 Background in Theatre15:49 A Supportive Family18:33 What would make you quit MTG?20:33 Team Armory Origins26:37 How did an MTG Pro Bring FAB Players Together?29:17 Simon's Early Days and their Influence31:18 Small Region Advantage?33:41 How did Everyone Sleep?37:46 Do Leaders Need to Sacrifice their own Needs?40:43 What's the Right Number of Players?42:49 Disseminating and Distilling Information48:08 The Myth of the Team Deck53:27 Still a New(ish) Leader56:39 Personal Disappointments from PT London?58:20 Is it harder to Win a PT in MTG or FAB?01:01:03 Worst Moments in Sleep01:06:07 Plugs and Outro———————- Join Bryce Platz from Arcane Games and Events as he sits down for intimate conversations with the biggest names in the world of the Flesh and Blood Trading Card Game.
