In Pt. 1 of my extensive interview with soulstress of the first order, Sandra St. Victor, we talked about ‘stream of consciousness’ in sequencing her 2026 album, “XI” (Eleven); working with Mother Tongue Records; the genesis of the creation of some of the tracks (such as “Moonchild” and “Regarding Leon”); her collaboration with Lalah Hathaway on “No More Water”); and “What Would Miles Do” and her first encounter with Miles Davis.
In Pt. 2, we continue to go ‘deep,’ which in my many conversations over the years with SSV (whose songs have been recorded by more than a few ‘names’ such as Chaka Khan, Prince and Tina Turner) is par for the course – doing some soul talkin’ about Go Up Moses and Roberta Flack; what being a ‘true’ artist means; touring and getting the word out about her latest album among other matters.
