Today’s episode of ‘I’ve got a mate’ features Leon Filewood, who generously spent time with me during the run of his show ‘Whichway’ at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Leon and I have a good yarn about his Country up on Thursday Island, whether there is such a thing as a ‘nice’ racist, his journey with comedy and using humour to approach tough conversations with kindness, whether the term ‘ally’ is useful or whether there might be a better alternative, and a whole range of other things.
This episode was recorded on Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung Country and my deepest respect goes to Elders past and present, and I’m thankful for being able to feel welcome as part of this community, living and working on this land.
