Episode 1: What is a Physician Assistant?
Host:
Dr. Scott Tunison
Teaching and Learning Specialist in Faculty Development in the College of Medicine as well as a member of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) faculty.
Guests:
Rebecca Mueller:
Director of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program at the University of Manitoba. Rebecca began her career in nursing before becoming a Physician Assistant in 2010. She has extensive experience in both oncology and palliative care and even created a 24-hour palliative care service in Ontario. Rebecca has also taught in PA programs at McMaster University and guest lectured at U.S. PA schools. She has also contributed to the Journal of Canada’s Physician Assistants.
Dr. Ginger Ruddy:
Director of the Office of Student Affairs in the College of Medicine and a Family Physician at West Winds Primary Health Centre. She has worked with Physician Assistants in the past and brings valuable insight from her experience collaborating with PAs.
Dr. Trustin Domes:
Academic Director of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program, an Associate Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, and a Urologist. He previously served as the Director of Admissions for the College of Medicine.
Ashley Millham:
Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) with 35 years of military experience and 15 years of clinical practice. He has served with the Canadian Special Operations Forces and as a Primary Care Clinic Supervisor within the Canadian Armed Forces. In the final two years of his military career, he directed the Canadian Armed Forces PA Training Program. Additionally, Ashley has practiced occupational and urgent care medicine at a remote diamond mine in the Northwest Territories. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants and serves on the Board of Directors as the Alternate Director for Saskatchewan
