In this first episode of Olameinu, we’re joined by Schlomo Bondarev, Director of Olami Germany, to introduce our community and explore the meaningful period between Passover and Lag BaOmer—a time of mourning, reflection, and spiritual growth in the Jewish calendar.
We dive into the story of Rabbi Akiva’s students, why they died, and the powerful message it teaches about respect, unity, and human dignity. We also discuss how Rabbi Akiva didn’t give up—but chose to rebuild, continue learning, and teach a new generation of students, including the legendary Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.
From there, we touch on Lag BaOmer, the light of Rabbi Shimon, and an introduction to Kabbalah—what it really is, and why it still matters today.
A deep, warm, and inspiring conversation about resilience, tradition, and what it means to live Jewish values in a modern world.
