Podcast Description

Script [Intro: Upbeat music] (Farith) Hi, we are Santiago, Rodrigo, and Farith; and welcome to Nutrition for Life. (Rodrigo) In this podcast we will talk about nutrition in adolescence. Eating well during adolescence is important for growth, energy, and overall health. (Santiago) and we'll move on to talk with expert nutritionists Marco and Juan Pablo, so add them to the call. [Sound effect: Phone dialing, call connecting] (Farith) Hi, how are you? (Marco) We are good, and you? (Rodrigo) Also good, well look, we brought you here to ask you about a very important topic which is nutrition in adolescence and its importance, and I don't know if you can explain it to us a little bit? Calcium strengthens bones, and iron prevents fatigue and supports the immune system. Developing good eating habits now will help you stay strong and healthy as you grow. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats improves concentration, memory, and learning, leading to better academic success. In contrast, diets high in sugars and saturated fats can negatively impact cognitive function. Similarly, proper nutrition is essential for muscle growth, development, and maintaining energy for sports activities. Key nutrients like complex carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats support optimal physical performance, while inadequate nutrition can cause fatigue and reduce athletic abilities. (Farith) Oh sure and what do you think about Having a good balanced diet when you are a teenager? (Juan Pablo) Well the truth: During adolescence, the body undergoes rapid growth and requires adequate nutrient intake to support this development. A balanced diet should include a variety of foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Limiting processed foods and those high in added sugars is crucial for maintaining good health and both academic and physical performance. (Santiago) Sure and we still have two other questions about nutrition in teenagers and the first one is How does not having a healthy diet can affect a teenager's mental health? (Marco) Well for that ...
