A graduate of Indiana University's School of Library and Information, Emily Bunyan has been the director of the Knox County Public Library since 1990. She founded the Friends of the Knox County Public Library in 1992 and holds memberships in the Vincennes Rotary Club, the American Library Association, the Indiana Library Federation, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She has served two terms as the president of the United Way of Knox and Crawford Counties.
