This week, we’re here a day early! I get to spend the day before Thanksgiving with someone who’s been in my life since we were awkward teenagers trying to make sense of the world: my friend Varinia Rodriguez—poet, writer, and the author of The Jellyfish Dream.
We sit down for a cozy holiday episode and play my a new Turkey Day game, Kameron’s Cute Little Thanksgiving Grati-tour, where we trade stories about the things we’re genuinely grateful for. I also read the section about Varinia from A Mural in Space, which somehow manages to be both sentimental and grounding at the same time—exactly the way our friendship has always worked. Then we shift into SIP/SAVOR/SPILL, answering questions about our most vapid takes, what we’d do if we suddenly had all the money in the world, and the things we used to think were dealbreakers in a partner… until life taught us better.
It’s warm, honest, funny in the right places, and exactly the kind of conversation that makes the holiday season feel like something worth celebrating.
