@darrentanakaphotography is a third generation Kelowna local with deep roots in the city’s Japanese Canadian community.
Our conversation moves through Kelowna history, his family’s connection to Kasugai Gardens, Japanese Canadian history during the Second World War, school, filmmaking, photography, and travel.
We also dig into how Darren sees photography, not simply as taking a picture, but as capturing a tiny piece of time before it disappears.
A thoughtful and nostalgic conversation about creativity, history, and noticing the world around you.
