Alexandra Rose is a former Selling the OC cast member, luxury realtor still at the Oppenheim Group, and a proud new mom to a baby boy who just discovered ice cream. She sat down at my Laguna Beach home (the same house Netflix filmed at during the show) and told me everything. Her $20 million sale on the very first episode. How Netflix cut the budget and replaced the original cast with cheaper newcomers. How she barely broke even after paying for hair, makeup, and wardrobe (she resold her Dolce Gabbana dresses on The RealReal). Why clients take her more seriously now that the cameras stopped. But the part that changed me was her childhood. Alexandra was in and out of foster care from ages one to four. Her biological parents were heavy drug addicts. She was taken away in the back of a police car at three years old. She was adopted with her brother, then two more siblings from the same biological mom. Her adoptive dad was found dead in his car on Christmas Day 2003. Her mom, a single mother of four adopted children, sold the house and moved them to Grand Prairie, Texas, where she bought a five-bedroom home for $140,000 and gave them a better life. Alexandra doesn't let any of it define her. And that's the most powerful part.
