This week, Steve and DJ welcomed John back to the show and they had a blast catching up on what they’ve been watching lately, from summer movie reactions to a stack of home theater-worthy picks. They talked about Nolan’s The Odyssey, why Spider-Man: Brand New Day might be the best Tom Holland Spider-Man movie yet, and why Marvel fans should absolutely make time for Daredevil and The Punisher. From there, the guys shifted into recent watches including Netflix’s The Last House for its surprisingly strong Atmos mix, the WWII drama Operation Mincemeat, and a revisit to Braveheart as both a historical epic and a must-own 4K disc.

They also dug into a few standout catalog and newer releases, including the Western Silverado from 1985 for its fantastic 4K presentation and immersive audio, and Supergirl as a fun comic book movie that really comes alive in a home theater. Steve also shared his passionate recommendation for Dead Man’s Shoes, calling it an absolute masterpiece that deserves to be sought out. Along the way, they traded stories about hiking through mountain thunderstorms, Atmos moments that mirror real life, and why certain movies stick with us for decades. It was one of those episodes that felt like hanging out with friends and celebrating everything we love about movies and home theater.
