This week on The Battle Between, we sit down with Tracy Lynn Curry, founder of DOC Cares and its flagship initiative, the Dreams Experience Academy. Based in Dallas, the program is dedicated to empowering underserved youth through music, mentorship, and education. Drawing from his own journey of resilience and reinvention, The D.O.C. now focuses on giving the next generation the tools to dream bigger, overcome adversity, and use their voices—literally and figuratively—to change their lives and communities.
Tracy Lynn Curry, better known as The D.O.C., began his influential hip hop career in Dallas with the Fila Fresh Crew before rising to fame on the West Coast alongside Dr. Dre and N.W.A. A gifted writer and lyricist, he played a key role in the formation of Death Row Records and helped shape the sound of West Coast rap. His solo success was tragically cut short in 1989 when a car accident crushed his vocal cords, a consequence of alcohol abuse that also marked the beginning of his battle with addiction. Despite losing his voice, he continued to impact the industry behind the scenes as a writer and mentor.
Join us on this journey as discuss Faith, Foundation, and Recovery with Tracy Lynn Curry.
