In this episode, Laurie, a former pastor, queer feminist researcher, and PhD candidate, shares her remarkable journey from growing up in a conservative Dutch Reformed tradition to discovering a more expansive understanding of faith, gender, and herself. Along the way, she reflects on women in ministry, coming out later in life, spiritual burnout, and the courage it takes to imagine a different future.
Together, we explore how patriarchy, sexism, and homophobia are often more connected than we realize, why authentic spirituality is rooted in connection, and what it means to give yourself permission to think beyond the stories you've always been told.
Whether you're questioning your faith, discovering your identity, or simply wondering if there's another way to be both deeply spiritual and fully yourself we hope this conversations meets you in your journey.
