In this episode Danny shares how he is integrating the use of AI into his classroom. Danny, deputy head and geography teacher at St George's, is embracing AI tools like ChatGPT to help students prepare for their IGCSE exams. In this episode Danny shares how his students initially tried to hide their AI use, and were subsequently surprised when Danny encouraged proper utilisation of these tools.
For Danny, the release of ChatGPT 4.0 was a pivotal moment that highlighted for him the potential for AI coaches to provide real-time, individualised feedback – something all teachers strive to do effectively whilst managing a busy classroom.
The discussion covers important considerations about data protection laws and appropriate student use of AI platforms. The conversation also touches on broader themes including the irreplaceable human elements of education such as pastoral care, inspiration from teachers, and the contrast between advancing technology and traditional exam formats that still rely on pen and paper.
