Host Michael Arndt interviews three veterans who although they have been out of the military for years found Warfighter Advance enlightening and personally healing.Ken Borchik served 27 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq in several different roles. He learned of Warfighter Advance through his friend, Mike Weed who is also included in this episode. Mike urged him to attend an evolution.Mike Weed, served 23 years in the Navy retiring in 2002 as an aircraft technician. He was deployed six times. A Marine veteran friend of his who was on the Warfighter Advance Staff encouraged him to attend. He refers to the Warfighter experience as discovering “pieces of puzzle” to rebuild lives.Alex Mizanoski, a U.S. Air Force veteran who left the military 14 years ago after 12 years of service including deployment. Alex talks about feeling disconnected returning to civilian life and didn’t feel present in his life. He says he need to find support. His discovery of the Warfighter Advance program led him to know that he wasn’t alone.All three of these veterans were so grateful for what Warfighter Advance gave them that they wanted to give back. As with many past participants in the program, they now volunteer as program mentors.
