Join Canonically Speaking host Fr Paul Hayward as he speaks with Canon Gerard Tartaglia.
Canon Gerard Tartaglia, originally from Glasgow’s East End, was ordained in 1985 and has served in several parishes in the Archdiocese of Glasgow, moving to his current parish of Kirkintilloch in 2022.
In 2008 he became a member of the Chapter of Canons of the Archdiocese. Since 1989 he has held roles in the Scottish National Tribunal (now known as the Scottish Catholic Inter-Diocesan Tribunal) and from 2014 he has also helped in the Tribunal of the Diocese of Oslo.
He has been involved in numerous canon law teaching roles, and from 2007 to the present he has been the Director of the Sentence Writing and Jurisprudential Course of the Canon Law Society of Great Britain and Ireland. In 2025 he was elected President of that Society
