Ellen Vote (’23) and Jennifer Khoo (’23) join OIGA President, Michael Basckos (’09), to reflect on life after Ivanhoe Grammar and the transition from school to university and beyond.With Ellen studying civil engineering and commerce at Monash University, and Jennifer studying commerce at the University of Melbourne, the duo share their experiences navigating university life, exploring career pathways, pursuing internships and embracing opportunities beyond the classroom. From residential college and consulting projects to international exchange programs, networking events and case competitions, they discuss the value of stepping outside your comfort zone and putting yourself in the right places to learn and grow.
Ellen and Jennifer also offer practical advice for current students, including why it’s okay not to have everything figured out, the importance of speaking with people who are a few steps ahead of you, and how building skills, experiences and connections can be just as valuable as academic results.
