Content Themes
The show focuses on various themes surrounding sexuality, body image, and empowerment, featuring episodes like discussions on body dysmorphia, experiences of sexual preferences with women, embarrassing sexual moments, and the intersection of fatness and queerness in the context of societal standards.

They lied to you. Women are sexual beings!
Welcome to The Fat and Horny Podcast, hosted by Nobuhle N Nyoni. This is a space where fat women talk about sex and sexuality, sexual health and wellness, sex education, body image, and sexual trauma with a keen eye on how they all connect. We recognise the intersection of sex, African cultures and traditions, and religion (a.k.a. colonisation). There are harmful patriarchal practices that have been passed down through generations that we haven’t been able to dissect for decades. But here, we do.
We know it sounds too serious, but we promise we have a good time with it, too. Dawryn Nyiramugisha, a sex coach, teaches us how to breathe during sex for heightened pleasure. Alwande, a somatic sex coach, shares funny and vulnerable moments that shaped her sexual confidence. Warimi Karogo, host of the 69 Podcast, paints a picture of what sexual practices looked like before colonisation to highlight the erasure of African culture and history.
See? We keep it balanced because decolonising sex should feel that way. The goal? To educate women out of sexual trauma and into pleasure. Fat or not!

In this episode, Alice Mills Mai helps us understand the sexual trauma often faced by same-sex violence survivors. She defines what intimate partner violence can look like and speaks to the reality that healing and trauma recovery don’t look the same for every survivor. Society and authorities lessen the severity of these charges because “it was just a woman.” Yet bodies only remember the sexual violence exerted on them, not the gender of the perpetrator. This problem exists because the legal definition of rape or sexual assault is penetration-centred, ignoring non-consensual acts such as touching, coercion, and the violation of boundaries within BDSM dynamics.
Dr. Alice brings a key perspective on validating survivors’ experiences, especially when their trauma is dismissed because the perpetrator was another woman. The discussion sheds light on the barriers faced by marginalised groups, including Black women, masculine-presenting lesbians, and fat women, who are often not believed by law enforcement or their own communities.
