Diana Piedra has dedicated her life to self-expression, exploration, and healing through the practices of yoga and dance.
She received her certification in Yogic Arts from Duncan Wong at Moksha Yoga in Chicago in 2002. Yogic Arts is a unique and creative practice that blends the discipline and precision of martial arts with the fluidity of Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga. Yoga quickly became an essential part of Diana’s life, providing grounding and balance as she navigated the challenges of being a young mother, a working professional, and living with ADD.
Her journey of study continued with certifications in Prenatal Yoga with Rhonda Kantor and Fertility Yoga through Pulling Down the Moon, both in Chicago. Serving and honoring women before, during, and after birth became a deep passion, ultimately leading to her certification as a doula in 2018.
Diana has also taught yoga for individuals recovering from addiction at a local treatment center. She believes her calling to facilitate healing is among the most meaningful aspects of her life’s work. Her energetic, compassionate, and occasionally humorous teaching style creates a space where students can learn, grow, laugh, and find joy—even in the most challenging poses.
In 2020, Diana completed her Meditation Facilitator Training through CHILL Anywhere, further expanding her commitment to mindful living and emotional well-being.
More than two decades of teaching have offered countless opportunities for growth and reflection. Diana remains deeply grateful for the wisdom of the many teachers who have influenced her path, including Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Nancy Gilgoff, Rod Stryker, Sharon Gannon, David Life, Sharon Denton, Dharma Mittra, Kino MacGregor, and Rolf Gates, among many others.
Today, Diana continues to walk her path with humility, curiosity, and an open heart. She remains devoted to teaching, lifelong learning, and being of service—particularly within the fertility and addiction recovery communities.
Her classes offer a grounded yet ever-evolving approach to the ancient practice of yoga, inviting students to reconnect with themselves through movement, breath, presence, and compassion.
In this podcast, Diana discusses her mixed race identity, her commitment to community, as well as being a parent to a trans (adult) child.
