Art isn’t just about creation—it’s about connection, history, and the stories we pass down. In this episode, we sit down with Adan Romo, a Sacramento-based sculptor whose work is woven into the fabric of his community.
Adan grew up watching his father, Jesús Romo, balance life as both an artist and a firefighter, instilling in him the drive to pursue his craft while honoring his community.
From studying Renaissance sculpture at UC Berkeley to training under master artisans in Italy, Adan’s artistic journey has taken him across the world. He’s received major national commissions for public art, including works for civic spaces, religious institutions, and veteran memorials. But perhaps his most personal project is reimagining the Sacramento Firefighter Memorial—a tribute started by his father, now continued by Adan, bringing their legacy full circle.
Beyond his public works, Adan is also dedicated to shaping the next generation of artists. As Chair of the Visual Arts Department at St. Francis High School, he teaches sculpture, art history, and digital film, ensuring that the creative torch continues to burn bright.
Join us as we dive into Adan’s incredible story—one of passion, perseverance, and the power of art to connect generations.
