Ordinary People Living Extraordinary Lives: with Alison Knox Everyday Angels ArtAlison Knox was born in Liverpool in 1960. She moved to Nottingham in 1978 to study for a BA (Hons) in Fashion and Textiles, and has lived there ever since.
Alison married her husband, Martin, in 1984. The two first met at art college when she was sixteen and he seventeen. Her early career took her into the fickle world of fashion, where she climbed the corporate ladder and became a Director of a major high street fashion chain at the age of 30.
Just a year later, at 31, she faced the bewilderment of redundancy followed by the terrifying prospect of cancer.
Her story with the angels began on 22nd November 2001. She was not looking for angels, but it seems they had been looking for her—biding their time until she was ready. The connection may have been in place 10 years before that, dating back to 22nd November 1991, when Alison experienced a visitation and conversation with someone she now recognises as an angel, while preparing to undergo cancer surgery.
That ten years in between proved to be a “testing ground” during which she was challenged in many ways to let go of who she thought she was, and to embrace who she truly is: an Angels’ Advocate.
Having mutually agreed an accord between human and angels, that enables her to express the angels through artworks that are visually beautiful and possess an undeniable spiritual depth, facilitating an awakening and growth in the most direct yet subtle ways.
Under the title Everyday Angels Art, she has brought hundreds—if not thousands—of angels into being, sending them out into the world to do their work wherever they are needed.
Her book, According to My Angels, offers an account and reflection on how this all came to be, exploring the reality of what it means to live in service to the divine while leading a very human life.
As a long time, active supporter and volunteer at Gorton Monastery Manchester Monastery | an Extraordinary Place to Visit Alison regularly brings her angels to offer free meditation and connection to those attending the 1st Sunday monthly “Health and Healing” open days. Many of her original artworks are kept by The Monastery.
Since 2017, Alison has also been working as an Independent Civil Celebrant, conducting funeral and wedding ceremonies that carry the compassionate touch of the angels in every word delivered. Her “day job” and her “souls purpose” are very much aligned. Connect with Alison: [email protected]
