June 19, 1965, commemorates Juneteenth, the oldest US celebration of the end of slavery. Some called it Emancipation Day. On this day in history, a white Major General Gordon Granger told slaves of their emancipation. Our ancestors struggled with systemic racism and injustice. Today blacks are still faced with the plague of systemic racism and injustice which has lasted for one hundred and fifty-five years after the Emancipation proclamation.
