Dr. Gegechkori talks about her personal refugee experience and how the death of her father at a young age from a misdiagnosed myocardial infarction, motivated her to become a physician; she had promised her deceased father and everyone at his funeral that she would help save others from pain by becoming a cardiologist. They discuss her positive experience transitioning to practice in Miami as well as emphasizing the importance of finding the right work environment that feels like “home”, advising fellows to be honest with themselves about their needs and expectations when searching for their future job.
